Stockport’s Underbanks are quickly becoming a corridor of modern shops, eateries and social spaces leading you to the centre of the town. Backing from The National Heritage Fund and Stockport Council is allowing for sensitive restoration to make use of its original character and bring it forward to modern day use.

Connected to the Underbanks is Stockport Marketplace, a treasure amongst locals and now flying the flag nationally with a host of food, drink, produce and art to experience. Here you’ll now officially find Britain’s Best Small Indoor Market for 2023, home to over 30 traders like artist Kate O’Brien and Polish bakery Sticky Fingers.
Following a 500-person consultation, more pedestrianisation is close to completion along the Marketplace, meaning you can visit Where The Light Gets in for a unique Michelin Star Dining experience, The Bakers Vaults for a spin on the Jukebox and even Dr Feelgood’s for some live music without the interruption of cars.
