This historic cinema situated in Gatley closed nearly two decades ago and until our renovation project began, had been left completely unoccupied. The building has been renovated into 7 affordable apartments for shared ownership in partnership with Rowlinson Constructions Ltd. The development combines the use of original features like the stunning art deco façade, with modern day retail units located on the ground floor.
Historically, the building opened as a theatre in the 1930s and housed an 18-foot stage, six dressing rooms, and a restaurant before being changed into a cinema in 1971. Viaduct Housing Partnership are proud to have brought it back to life and contributing once again to the local community.
Following work between Stockport Council and the former owner of the Tatton Cinema site, Stockport Homes were able to purchase the site and take forward the existing planning approval to deliver 7 apartments for shared ownership and 26 apartments for rent for the over 55 age group.
