Contractor John Southworth are set to continue with the restoration of Battersby Hat Factory’s iconic mills, undertaking a project that will transform the buildings into 45 homes, including 15 houses, 16 apartments, and 13 mews properties. The partnership will deliver high quality, affordable homes whilst carefully preserving local heritage.

The Mills are the natural focal point to Viaduct Housing’s largest development to date; the entire scheme will provide 144 homes in total, including a variety of neighbouring new-build homes to the rear of the site that customers have already started to occupy. Three Sixty, a profit-for-purpose construction company and part Stockport Homes Group, are continuing works on these remaining new-build properties.

We’re proud to be working on a project that has played such a historic part in Stockport’s industrial story. This phase of the build will create new homes that complement the significance of the building, and the local communities that kept the boroughs famous hat making tradition alive for so many years.
