First Customers Move into Iconic Regeneration Scheme in Stockport

Man and woman customers embrace in front of their new house at Battersby Hat Factory

Smiling from ear to ear, the first set of customers were welcomed to their new home last week as handovers took place on what is Viaducts largest development to date.

The Battersby Hat Factory scheme, which comprises 144 properties and will create a brand-new community within the heart of Offerton, has been under construction since spring 2019 and its highly anticipated arrival is now starting to take shape as customers settle in.

The scheme will provide homes across a mix of tenures, with 1 and 2 bed apartments and two, three and four bed houses advertised for shared ownership, market sale and affordable rent.

This is an extremely exciting chapter in the lives of these customers who can begin to make their house, on this fantastic development, a wonderful home. We have seen a huge demand for this popular scheme, which is testament to the partnership work taking place to ensure more affordable, high-quality housing is available within the borough.

The development is being delivered in conjunction with contractors Lane End, and good progress has been made on the next set of phases, which are due to handover in the coming months.
